Despite the fact that the education of adults is in many cases conceived as a basic education focused mostly on social and personal fulfillment, adults have a great potential for employability if they receive an adequate training matching the needs of companies. This is especially true for adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who neither study nor work.

In the new production models generated in recent years, the innovation and technology sector stands out in a striking way, since it became in 2018 one of the sectors with the greatest capabilities for growth and hiring.

This sector has a wide variability of jobs with very diverse profiles (from researchers to staff without degrees) and it can be a great opportunity for our beneficiary group, not only for the real possibilities of employability, but also for offering a striking and motivating objective for these adults. But in order to access these jobs, it is essential that they develop some specific skills.

FROM LITERACY TO DIGITAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL TRAINING is a project aimed at structuring the learning of these adults through a complete itinerary adapted to employability in the technology sector, from the most basic stages of adult training to the basic knowledge required by technology companies through the development of digital and technological skills, such as scientific thinking, critical analysis, and digital skills.

The preparation stage has made it possible to define the work teams and the contents of the various results (intellectual outputs, tangible, and structural), and to strengthen the ties of an intersectoral partnership comprised of cooperatives, universities, VET centers, and technology companies.



The implementation stage allowed to carry out very diverse activities, including Transnational Meetings, virtual meetings, and national activities aimed at developing the project’s results -like its Intellectual Outputs and tangible or structural results- and pilot tests that validate the materials.



The dissemination and visibility stage made the project visible from its beginning and intensified towards its end. Partners spread information about it and promote the use of its results through activities aimed at the most appropriate multipliers, to achieve a great impact on the beneficiaries.



The evaluation stage is transversal to the entire project, and allowed us to monitor it to avoid any issues on the quality of its results, being able to adjust the budget or the schedule.




The main result of this project is a virtual training course with three educational levels, structured and approved by lifelong learning centers in Europe, and certified through the digital badge DIGITAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL TRAINING DIPLOMA, which is compatible with the curriculum of adult education LITERACY FOR DIGITAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL TRAINING.

This course proposes learning adapted to adults, building its contents through specific itineraries of improvement, identification, and monitoring of capabilities, with a learning offer adapted to the individual needs of the student, and based on a flexible and digital learning methodology.

Starting from an initial evaluation of the student, a personalized itinerary will be established with the necessary contents and materials. This course will be structured into three levels:

INITIAL LEVEL: Basic literacy from a technological perspective.

This level focuses on the basic literacy of the student with low or without qualifications, in order to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. It includes specific materials and contents for the development of basic skills, all of it through a technological perspective that develops critical analysis.

ADVANCED LEVEL: digital training through critical thinking.

This level is focused on developing the competences of initiative and entrepreneurship, critical thinking and analysis, and especially the digital skills of adult students through all the above. Scientific thinking is also worked on as a basis for future employability in the digital sector.

EXPERT LEVEL: Basic technological training and scientific thinking for employability.

This level specifically focuses on the skills and abilities required by the technology sector, among which are the processes of analysis, job responsibilities, teamwork, responsibility, initiative, and innovation. It is specifically aimed at basic technological training for employability, but it is also intended to serve as a key progress to improve the inclusion of students in the educational system.

A project that aims to guide young adults from basic training to training for employment in the technological sector, through a virtual and personalized learning.

José Luis Gómez Ribelles

José Luis Gómez Ribelles is a professor at Universitat Politècnica de València, developing his research work at the Centro de Biomateriales e Ingeniería Tisular – CBIT, of said university. He is currently the main researcher of one of the research units of CIBER-BBN of Carlos III Health Institute. His current line of research focuses on the development of biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Luis Gómez Estrada

Luis Gómez has a degree in Technical Engineering in Industrial Design and in Industrial Engineering and Product Development. He has a postgraduate course for secondary education teacher, extensive experience in scientific research, and more than 15 years of experience in positions of responsibility in social organizations. He also has experience in the field of teaching, and has developed several specific educational materials to train adults and high school students.
Luis is an entrepreneur who is always looking for ways to change the world.

António Mário Almeida

António Mário Almeida has a degree in Physics from the University of Coimbra (1990), where he holds a Master’s Degree in Technological Physics (1994). Since 2003 he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Minho, where he completed his PhD in Computational Physics. His research interests are in the domain of computational physics, meaning quantum methods of molecular dynamics and properties of materials.

Jordi Rizo Albero

Jordi Rizo has a degree in Business Administration and Management, a Mention in Human Resources from the University of Valencia, and a Master’s Degree in Social Economy, Cooperatives and Non-profit Companies from UV. He has specific training for recruiting and motivating volunteers, and during his professional and associative career, he has been the economic manager and coordinator of various social, political, and educational projects. He has designed educational materials for persons with disabilities, a has experience as trainer in non-formal and informal areas. He has managed international projects in the Erasmus Plus Programme.

Ricardo Sixto Iglesias

Ricardo Sixto Iglesias was born in Valencia in 1967. He graduated in Geography and History from University of Valencia in 1990. Medievalist, specialized in archives, library science, and documentation. He has devoted a good part of his experience to public work in various institutions such as the city councils of Burjassot and Valencia, the Valencia Provincial Council, and the Spanish Congress of Deputies.

Juliana Alice Ferreira

Juliana Alice Ferreira Oliveira has a PhD in Materials Engineering with a Master’s degree in Physics of Advanced Materials and a Degree in Teaching in Physics and Chemistry. She has been CTO of Nanopaint since the constitution of the company, and the person responsible for leading and coordinating the entity. She has a vast experience in coordinating and participating in European and international projects, especially in the field of research and education. She was a professor and researcher at Universidade do Minho, and is currently developing a project of radiation detectors based on inkjet printing technologies with the
objective of studying and developing an indirect radiation detector.

Apostolos Kyritsis

Dr. Apostolos Kyritsis is an adjunct professor in the Department of Physics at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He studied Physics at the University of Athens, where he received his Diploma (1988) and his PhD(1994), and has published more than 90 research papers, 30 articles in conferences, and chapters in 4 books in the field of polymers, polymer compounds, and nanocomposites. He has more than 1400 citations (without self-citations) and an h-index of 20, and has participated in 5 national and international research projects as coordinator and in more than 15 national and community projects as main researcher.

Pierre Carrolaggi

Pierre Carrolaggi is professor of pedagogy, training director, and coordinator of the pedagogical laboratory of Greta du Velay, where works since 1992. He graduated as agronomical engineer and has studied social sciences. His main activities are the creation of training programs, training of trainers, consultancy in education and pedagogy, development of innovation, the creation of e-learning methods and tools, the diagnosis of training needs, and consulting in the use of ICTs in employment and training actions. He is a European advisor and international expert in skill-based curricula and ICTs applied to education by the French Ministry of Education, Employment and Agriculture, and is used to working in a transnational context.
